Dolce & Gabbana have signed a three year agreement with English Chelsea to produce the official suits and design the stadium area for the English club. The Italian designers are known to be ardent fans of soccer and already work with AC Milan and also the Italian national team. This deal marks their first foray with a foreign club. Dolce is known to attend all AC Milan’s home games and the company has had deals with soccer players and teams since 2003.
The financial implications of the arrangement have not been revealed yet. As per the deal, the Chelsea team, including the manager, will wear blue suits with two-button jackets paired with blue jacquard ties.
Dolce & Gabbana, who had wholesale sales of EUR 1.379 billion is the last fiscal year, will also be working with the design of some exclusive areas in Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium.
In an official statement the designers said, "We are big football fans, for us it means healthy competition, intense passion and great discipline.”
